The Education Ministry has signed an agreement with the Faculty of Applied Science of Post and Telecommunications, affiliated to Information and Communications Technology Ministry, to add ICT courses to elementary and high school curricula.
According to Vahid Yazdanian, dean of the faculty, the agreement is aimed at promoting applied and theoretical ICT knowledge among students, CITNA reported.
"The skill and knowledge will definitely come in handy when they enter the job market in the future," he added.
As per the agreement, the faculty has agreed to prepare the educational content for the courses.
"The content should be adjusted to the global curriculum standards and correspond with the students' age and academic level," he added.
Yazdanian emphasized that the ICT content should be prepared based on the most important skills needed by Iran's job market to fill gaps in the technology industry.
In addition, short training courses will also be devised for adults. These courses will help those willing to upgrade their skills, or those who have just entered an ICT-related career.
