Iran's Faculty of Applied Science of Post and Telecommunication is to hold ICT training courses for university teachers and students in Afghanistan.
The move is in line with efforts to boost academic ties with the neighboring country and help improve its ICT education, the dean of the faculty said.
According to Vahid Yazdanian, the courses will cover basic concepts of information and communication technology and postal services for students.
"In addition, special courses will be held for university instructors in the fields network management, big data, cloud computing, Internet of Things, blockchain, cyber security, fiber optic, computer programming and digital marketing," Iran's ICT Ministry website ict.gov.ir reported.
An agreement is being drafted by the faculty and Afghanistan's Information and Communication Technology Institute (ICTI) to this effect. The ICTI will host the courses.
Yazdanian said the plan was conceived after Afghanistan communications minister visited Iran in January.
In a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Shahzad Aryobee outlined challenges his war-torn country faces in the key ICT sector and postal services and sought help from Iran and its relevant IT organizations.
The courses will commence soon after the agreement is signed by the sides.
