    Tehran University Tech Park Expanding

Tehran University’s Science and Technology Park is to expand its frontiers in the upcoming year (begins March 21) by adding three new buildings to its premises, the park's CEO Abbas Zare'I said.

The new buildings will accommodate tech companies active in biotechnology, veterinary medicine, and information and communication technology, Zare'i told IRNA on Thursday.

Four kilometers from the prestigious university, the 6-hecrare science and technology park is located in the central-northern part of the capital in Amirabad district.

The park's area will be at least double its current size when the expansion project is concluded.

The companies will receive support until they can function independently and offer their products and services.

Since inception in 2005, the tech park has been home to two main centers, known as "Pre-incubation" and "Post-incubation".

The former attracts talented students and helps them nurture and promote their ideas in any field of technology through special training.

The latter accommodates existing teams providing them with all they need to promote their work, including technical, legal and financial aid.

There already are 140 startups and knowledge-based teams in the tech park.
