Tehran, Shiraz, and Isfahan are to host startup contests through which Iran’s representative to Switzerland’s Seedstars World will be decided.
Seedstars World, the global startup competition to identify young talents in emerging and fast-growing markets will be held on April 4 and 5, 2019 in Lausanne.
A series of local contests which are to be held on October 7, 9, and 12 in Isfahan, Shiraz, and Tehran will determine who will represent Iran in this round of Seedstars World, news website Shanbe Press reported.
Seedstars is a Swiss company that promotes, connects and annually invests up to $1.5 million in startups from emerging markets through competitions held in 60 countries.
According to the local website of the event, the top 10 startups from the three cities will be invited to pitch their ideas and business plans in front of an investment panel and compete to be crowned the most promising startup of Iran.
The finalist startup will join the global Seedstars family and take part in the regional and global Seedstars summits that include the organization’s boot camp and investor forum.
Startups more than two years old cannot participate in the competition.
The winner of the contests will receive an air ticket to Switzerland to compete for the $1 million plus investment.
The local event is backed by Iranian mobile operator MTN-Irancell and the Shahid Beheshti University’s startup accelerator.
