Tehran University, TCI Boosting Entrepreneurship

As per an agreement between Tehran University and the Telecommunication Company of Iran, the two will increase support for entrepreneurs and startups involved in information and communications technology.

Hoping to give the sector a much-needed technological shot in the arm, the agreement calls for extending meaningful support for young entrepreneurs. 

While promotion of startups has been a priority of the government, not much has been achieved so far.

In an interview with local news website Shanbe Press, head of the university’s entrepreneurship department, Mohammad Reza Zali said Iran is among the leading countries in terms of developing and expanding startups. However, he is of the opinion that there is much room for improvement and “lack of investment has hampered the sector.”

Iran’s information and communications technology infrastructure has grown significantly in recent years and startups can and should contribute further to the key industry, he said.
