A series of e-governance projects will be launched over the next month, the head of Iran’s Information Technology Organization said on Monday. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Information Technology Organization are responsible for administering next-generation technology projects. “The launch of new services will help ease public dealings with the government,” ISNA quoted ITO chief, Nasrollah Jahangard, as saying. Jahangard added that nearly 50% of government organizations are connected to the network while the rest will be added next month. The deputy minister did not specify the projects lined up for the future. Previously in November, Reza Baqeri-Asl, the secretary of e-government project, said progress in the field is constantly monitored. On a more upbeat note, he said a workgroup had been created to manage the development of the smart city project. “The municipality is handling the management of the project and the e-governing commission helps prepare the infrastructures and oversee the project,” he said.
