New ICT development projects in the western province of Hamedan have connected all rural communities to high-speed internet, Information and Communications Technologies Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi said.
During a visit to the province earlier this week, Jahromi launched various ICT projects in the villages of Cheshmeh Ali, Simin Abrou, Qaragol and Kaboudar-Ahang.
“With 264 new connections, all 1,067 Hamedan villages with over 20 households are connected to the National Information Network,” he added, according to the ministry's website.
Officials developed NIN in August 2016 as an alternative and independent network with content compatible with Islamic norms to help make indigenous content more accessible to Iranians nationwide.
Rural connections were made possible thanks to 164 communication sites built by domestic telecom companies, including Mobile Telecommunications Company of Iran, Irancell and HiWeb.
