Iranian universities are expanding their ties with the country’s startup ecosystem through innovation centers and investment in tech parks.
In line with the growing trend, Kharazmi University in Alborz Province recently inaugurated an innovation center in a ceremony attended by Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari.
According to the vice presidential office’s website Isti.ir, the center is established in one of the university’s administrative buildings.
Sattari said that repurposing the building both saved time, space and money in establishing the tech center and eased access for tech teams.
Currently, 20 knowledge-based firms and 25 startup teams have moved into the center. Officials believe more tech teams will arrive at the center via a public call soon.
“Tech teams settling in the center can use the province’s industrial potentials, especially in the pharmaceutical field, and develop their businesses,” he said.
