IRIB, Streaming Services Reach Initial Agreement

Major Iranian video streaming services and the state-run broadcaster IRIB have reached a preliminary agreement over regulating the distribution of multimedia content on the web.
The initial agreement has been forged between online service providers and an IRIB arm, Iran’s Digital Media Regulatory Authority known by its Persian acronym Satra, Peivast news website reported.
Satra was established after Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called on authorities to regulate cyberspace and content distribution on the web.
The recent agreement has been forged between Satra and Iran’s leading streaming services Aparat, Filimo, Namava and Cafe Bazaar.
According to Peivast, Satra will issue permits to online service providers.
Satra’s chief, Sadeq Emamian, earlier said firms offering video sharing and video-on-demand services also need to receive permits from the regulatory authority.
