Local Tech Firms to Upgrade Meteorological Organization

Tapping the capabilities of tech firms and knowledge-based companies in Iran is gaining momentum in various fields, including industrial production, urban development, road construction and weather forecast.
As per the deal recently signed by Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari and Sahar Tajbakhsh, the head of Iran Meteorological Organization—affiliated to the Roads Ministry—IMO intends to harness the potentials of tech units and startups for manufacturing modern equipment and tools to boost its efficiency. 
More accurate forecasts of natural disasters like storms or floods are also envisaged by the deal, Mehr News Agency reported. 
The agreement worth 26 billion rials ($224,000) also expects tech units to streamline and upgrade commercial transportation and road safety by devising smart solutions. 
Another deal was signed by Roads Minister Mohammad Eslami and Sattari, based on which an area allocated for Pardis Technology Park in eastern Tehran will be expanded. 
According to the officials, the park currently covers 58 hectares of area, but it can be expanded to 1,000 hectares. 
Details concerning the deal's worth have not been mentioned in the media. 
Pardis Technology Park was launched in 2005 in Pardis, a satellite city 20 kilometers from the capital city, Tehran.
