Trauma Major Cause of Death in Iran

One person dies every 20 minutes in Iran due to traumatic injuries, according to the head of the Iran University of Medical Sciences.

Stating that younger people are more prone to death by trauma, Seyyed Javad Haj Mir Esmaeili said it is the leading cause of death globally in the first 40 years of a person’s life, YJC reported. “While cardiovascular diseases are the primary cause of death in Iran, they mostly affect older populations, whereas trauma afflicts younger groups,” he added. He called on relevant entities, including the Health Ministry and Parliament, to devise a system to improve the prognosis of trauma patients. Traumatic injury refers to physical injuries of sudden onset and severity which require immediate medical attention.
