Close to 30% of Iran’s schools need renovation and strengthening, according to Mohammad Taqi Nazarpour, head of the Organization for the Renovation, Development and Equipping of Schools, was quoted as saying on the Education Ministry portal, medu.ir.
According to the official, 30% of Iran’s 530,000 schools need to be renovated and strengthened.
Moreover, a number of the country’s classrooms are unsafe clay-made structures, plus, close to 1,700 classrooms are held in portable containers in underprivileged regions.
“By the end of summer when schools open, about 4,000 new classrooms will be ready to be used,” Nazarpour said.
