A total of 80 mobile dental clinics will start operating in disadvantaged areas and fringes of cities by the next week, according to Saeed Asgari, the secretary of oral health council at the Health Ministry.
The mobile clinics are set up inside quality and heavy duty vehicles equipped with modern dental equipment and imaging units, Salamat News reported.
According to the Health Ministry, each vehicle costs 2.5 billion rials ($62,500). The ministry has so far spent $5 million on the 80 mobile clinics.
Poor dental health is said to be a major cause of healthcare costs in Iran.
