A special atlas showing all nomadic routes used by pastoral nomads is nearing completion, said the head of Iran’s Tribal Affairs Organization, Karamali Qandali. The routes include those that the nomadic tribes use when they move when seasons change along with their livestock and household items, Iranian Agriculture News Agency ‘IANA’ reported. The map will help in planning and improving nomadic access to the main roadways. There are 1.2 million nomads in the country and an estimated 50,000 km of routes are normally used by them, of which 2,800 km is in Northern Khorasan Province. At present, 95% of nomadic and tribal people have access to the national road network (220,000 km), said Qandali.
