A 4.6-magnitude earthquake jolted the city of Rivash in Khorasan Razavi Province on Saturday night. There were no reports on possible casualties or damage. According to the seismological center affiliated to Tehran University Geophysics Institute, the quake occurred at 20:52 local time. Iran sits astride several major faults, and is prone to frequent earthquakes, many of which have been devastating. Earlier this month, a 5.7 magnitude earthquake in Bojnurd in the same region near Iran’s border with Turkmenistan killed two people, injured hundreds and caused widespread damage, IRNA reported.
