Specialized Autism Centers

At least one autism specialized center will be set up in every town in Tehran Province by the end of the current Iranian year in March 2018, said deputy for rehabilitation at the State Welfare Organization. “There are currently six centers operating in the capital city, and we are making efforts to increase the number in Tehran as well as in other provinces,” said Hossein Assadi, as reported by Mizanonline. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is the name for a group of developmental disorders. There are about 2,200 children with ASD registered at the SWO. Officials estimate that there could be around 70,000 children in the country with ASD.
