The presence of lice infestation is increasing in the country, said Babak Eshrati, head of Food and Waterborne Diseases at the Health Ministry.
“Public information and awareness campaigns are needed to stop the trend,” he said at a workshop on infectious ailments in Shiraz, capital of Fars Province on Tuesday, IRNA reported.
He also pointed to the increasing number of fatal cases due to use of chemical products to remove hair lice, and urged families to visit health centers for advice before taking any measures.
Over the past couple of months, several children in Mazandaran Province have lost their lives due to poisoning from the use of crop pesticide to remove lice.
