A total of 850 residential units will be handed over to families with two disabled members in rural and urban deprived areas by the end of the 10-day Dawn (Fajr) Festivities (Feb 1-10) that marks the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. “Each beneficiary family has been given non-returnable financial aid of 180 million rials ($4,700) and loans amounting to 180-200 million rials ($4,700-5,300),” said Hamidreza Sohrabi, director general of rural development at the Islamic Revolution Housing Foundation, IRNA reported. The project to provide all families with at least two disabled members is in cooperation with the State Welfare Organization and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. In total, 11,500 families were listed for the special housing of whom 32% were rural families and 68%, urban dwellers.
