Genetic factors and family history increase the chances of developing childhood diabetes, said Nima Khosravi, the executive deputy head of the International Diabetes Prevention and Control Foundation of Iran.

“A simple cold or chicken pox in children can also cause a sudden tension in the body and affect the pancreas which leads to development of type 1 diabetes,” he told ISNA.

Lack of attention to healthy lifestyle choices in the recent years has increased the chances of children being born with type 1 diabetes.

Bed wetting, sudden and acute stomachache, dizziness and disorientation are some of the symptoms of diabetes in children.
