During the first seven months of the current year (started March 20), 448,945 marriages and 172,081 divorces were registered across the country, according to figures released by the National Organization for Civil Registration (NOCR). “About 38% of all divorces are related to couples between the ages 25 and 29,” Seifollah Abutorabi, NOCR spokesman was quoted as saying by salamatnews.com. During the same period last year, 437,205 marriages and 90,070 divorces were registered in the country. Based on official figures, the average years of Iranian marriages has decreased to three years and only 11% of Iranians have the chance to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary.
