In an effort to raise public awareness on the Sustainable Development Goals (2016-2030), the United Nations Office in Tehran in cooperation with a number of Tehran’s district municipalities has put up banners displaying information in Farsi in a number of crowded areas across Tehran.
According to the UN Information Center, the move has been initiated in districts 3 and 6 so far. The banners are displayed at Laleh Park entrance, Kesharvaz Boulevard, Vali Asr Avenue, Shahrdar Boulevard and Qoba Square.
With 17 Goals and 169 targets, the SDGs are a set of goals adopted by 193 member states of the UN last year, covering a broad range of sustainable development issues including ending poverty and hunger, improving health and education, making cities more sustainable, combating climate change, and protecting oceans and forests.
Last week, renowned Iranian artists launched a campaign in Tehran dubbed “Together for Sustainable Development Goals,” to introduce the newly-adopted SDGs to the Iranian public.
