Determined to expand its already extensive fields of business, the giant e-retailer Digikala is reportedly planning to buy out Rocoland, an online supermarket based in Tehran. Digikala executives have mentioned a plan entailing the introduction of a new field of sale, i.e. food products, by taking over Rocoland, reported local e-zine Peivast which covers technology and startup news. The particulars to the deal have not been published yet, though reports point out that sealing the deal is currently tied to the last offer made by Digikala. Rocoland was established in 2016, providing services to citizens of Tehran ever since, listing various food products such as meat, vegetables and fruits. Orders worth above 800,000 rials ($19) will be granted free shipping services. Digikala, one of the major e-commerce platforms in Iran, was founded in 2006 by Hamid and Saeed Mohammadi. The company offers products of different categories such as digital commodities, books and stationery, cosmetics, home appliances, as well as accessories and clothes.
