Iran Mobile Operator MCI Boosts 4G Internet Coverage

The main Iranian mobile operator Mobile Telecommunication Company of Iran (MCI) reported Thursday that it has expanded its 3G and 4G network and now has coverage in all 1,246 Iranian cities. The operator started offering 3G and 4G services three years ago. MCI is the first operator to offer such services in all Iranian cities, the company reported in a blog post. MCI has 47 million active users in the country of 80 million people. According to the International Telecommunication Union, by the end of 2016, 53% of Iranians actively used the Internet and 33.8% of the population had mobile Internet service subscriptions.
