The Skin Research Center of Iran University of Medical Sciences has developed the first local stem cell treatment for skin diseases. The medicine called ‘Renew Derm Cell’ was unveiled this week during a ceremony attended by Health Minister Seyyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi, the ministry’s website reported. Stem cells are to be used for healing scars caused by acne, hypertrophy, leishmaniasis, chronic wounds, diabetes-affected wounds and minor burns. Skin therapy works by injecting the stem cell-based extract into the skin or applying it topically. It can be injected into the facial skin and the desired areas.
