Ride-Hailing Company Expands to Northern Regions

Iran’s largest ride-hailing company, Snapp, has expanded into four northeastern cities. The company launched services in Babol, Sari, Qaemshahr and Rasht after its successful launch in other major cities, including Tehran, Isfahan, Karaj, Shiraz, Mashhad, Qom and Tabriz, ILNA reported. Snapp, established in 2014, is co-owned by Germany’s Rocket Internet and MTN-Irancell through its holding company, Iran Internet Group. Like the famous ride-hailing app Uber, the firm does not employ drivers directly and instead uses freelancers. The company has faced strong competition in several cities where others, especially locals have been providing their own ride-hailing services. To distinct itself from others, Snapp has tried to expand the range of its services. It launched another service last month, the ‘Snapp Bike’ delivering ride-hailing services on two-wheelers. Snapp Bike is only available in Tehran and Mashhad. Snapp’s Android app is available on Google Play and local Android market Café Bazaar. iOS users can download the application directly from the company’s official website or alternative iOS app markets like SibApp and Nassaab.
