The ninth round of International Micro Air Vehicles Conference and Flight Competition was held in Toulouse, France from September 18-21, where teams from Iranian universities made their way to the final competitions.

Organized by The Institut Supérieur de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace (National Higher French Institute of Aeronautics and Space), and The École nationale de l’aviation civile (French Civil Aviation University), IMAV 2017 brought under one roof teams from different nations.

Thirty varsity teams of researchers and students from Iran, Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, Britain, India, Mexico and Singapore participated in the competition.

They competed under different categories including virtual challenge, treasure hunt, drone parade and record breaking in outdoor and indoor environments.

Amirkabir University of Technology, a renowned Iranian polytechnic institution, won the first place in Virtual Challenge contest.

Two other Iranian teams, namely Horizon and Persis, both from the Islamic Azad University of Khomeini Shahr Branch managed to take sixth place into the top ten contestants in the Indoor Competition.

IMAV is an annual event that seeks to foster key technologies for the development of micro-air vehicles.  It combines a scientific conference and a flight competition.

IMAV2018 will be held in Melbourne and will be hosted by Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology from November 17-23.
