Tech and fashion enthusiasts are gradually teaming up.
Tech and fashion enthusiasts are gradually teaming up.

The second Startup Weekend titled ‘Entrepreneurship in Fashion and Technology’ was held this week focusing on developing new talent in the fashion and retail industry in Tehran.

According to the official website of the Startup Weekend, the three-day event (August 16-18) hosted fashion Innovations representing anything new, disruptive and high-growth in the local fashion industry.

The weekend culminated with presentations in front of local entrepreneurs with an opportunity for critical feedback.

Teams formed around the top ideas (determined by popular vote) and then followed by a 54-hour frenzy of clothing creation, coding, designing and market validation.

According to public relations department of the event, more than 17 mentors interviewed designers to choose the top ten ideas so as to hand their profiles to prominent investors in the sector.

Fashion and technology are not fields that are known for their interaction. E-commerce sites and fashion apps are changing both industries at an incredible pace.

The first event in Iran was held in 2016, hosting many entrepreneurs and hopefuls in the fairly new field of technology.

The parent group, Startup Weekend, is a global grassroots movement of active entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model; those who are encouraged to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers attend.
