Platforms have been expanding with the aim of promoting B2B trade.

A new a knowledge-based website, hitechexport.ir, has been launched with the aim of exporting technological products.

The platform, supported by Iran’s Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, aims to promote small companies in five languages through the website, ISNA reported

The five languages include Persian, English, Arabic, French and Russian.

The website lets visitors search subjects of interest via  categories and offers brief descriptions of items as well as company details for future contact.

Knowledge-based companies with goods deemed exportable and services can register with the platform, and their information will be translated into the four foreign languages.

The measure seeks to promote export and foreign trade, help improve knowledge and technology, enhance domestic business capacity, help reduce the trade deficit, and augment economic interaction with the outside world

However, the new government-backed website is not alone is facing competition from the private sector. Payk-e-Farzaneh Pooyan, a science-based firm in Fars Science and Technology Park in Shiraz, launched a similar Internet service last month to boost export of goods and services.

The platform called Cheegel is an Internet marketplace focusing on indexing, introduction, sale and export of goods.

Zoodel, another platform launched about two years ago, lists hundreds of companies with the aim of connecting Iranian businesses to foreign firms, similar to Alibaba.com.
