A locally developed antivirus and anti-malware patch is now able to counter the WannaCry ransomware attacks, its programmers say. Padvish, which has been developed by an Iranian knowledge-based firm and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, has added the new patch which enables users to prevent being infected by the so-called ransomware virus which is locking down computers across the globe, Mehr News Agency reported. The developer company charges 580,000 rials ($15) for its basic desktop antivirus and an additional 160,000 rials ($4) for the anti-malware patch. However, Microsoft has released a free patch which secures computers against the attack. According to the latest numbers announced by Computer Emergency Response Coordination Center, affiliated to Iran Information Technology Organization, 2,000 cases of the ransomware attack have been reported in Iran.
