Futuristic Tube Transport Will Reshape Travel

The tubes which enable car-sized passenger capsules could be optimized for value, and reshape how people travel.
The tubes which enable car-sized passenger capsules could be optimized for value, and reshape how people travel.

Daryl Oster, CEO of tube transport ET3 Global Alliance said his system has attracted competition in the next generation transportation field from companies like Elon Musk’s Hyperloop system. Oster said that tubes, which enable carsized passenger capsules, could be optimized for value, and reshape how people travel, reducing labor and fuel costs to less than a tenth of the cost of flying.

Hyperloop, Oster said, is regional, whereas ET3 is a highway with access points all along the international

routes, according to Tech Republic. In an interview with the technology website, Oster said his system intends people “to travel from the United States to India in just three hours.”

He also said he expected the trip to cost the person a mere $50 (€53), however, comments on the website suggest he may be off the mark with that price. “ET3 we call it a mag-lev limo, where it’s a car-sized vehicle that operates in a network of tubes much like cars on a freeway,” Oster said.

“But, it would be international and global in scope.” But Oster is not the only person dreaming of the impossible. CEO of another future transport system TransitX, Mike Stanley said that he wants to see tube travel become the norm.

“People are not willing to sacrifice personal convenience for the greater good,” he said. He also discussed how to solve the problems that emerge when society’s wants and needs are in conflict.

“I look at what the impossible dream is,” Stanley said. “I’m talking about making carfree cities within five years.”
