The fourth edition of Iran Web Festival has started accepting applications from exhibitors. Those owning a website, a web-based software or mobile phone application in the country can take part.
Every year in winter thousands of Iranian applications and websites take part in the festival to compete for a bigger share of Internet-based services market in a range of categories such as travel, food, and e-commerce to name a few.
According to the event website, the annual gathering is organized by the Iranian Guild for Internet-Based Businesses and sponsored by Iran’s e-Commerce Development Center affiliated to the Ministry of Industries, Mines, and Trade.
Last year 3509 mobile applications and 12,327 websites were registered, and 102,883 exhibitors attended.
Shayan Shalileh, founder and managing director of ýAnetwork (an online advertising network) first introduced the web festival in 2009. At that time it focused only on websites. Other organizers of the event, Milad Ahrampoush, and Mohsen Barati created the Iran App Festival in 2014. The two events were later merged.
The exact date of this year’s event has not yet been announced. For more information, enthusiasts may refer to the event website http://www.iwmf.ir/.
