Italy and Iran have agreed to cooperate in the field of biotechnology research, Mehr News Agency reported on Monday. The agreement follows a meeting in Tehran on 'Technological Innovation Cooperation' attended by academia and diplomats from both sides and Rome's diplomatic mission in Tehran. No formal agreement was signed between the two sides, but Italy's willingness to team up with Iran comes after a previous program between Rome and Beijing in the same field. Meanwhile, Iran has been developing its biotechnology industry with a series of local developments including the release of 160 drugs for the domestic market in 2015.
