Researchers at the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, the largest research university in northeastern Iran, have developed a mobile application for simulating nanotubes. One of the PhD students at the university, Boshra Qanbari Shohani, majoring in solid state physics, has developed the application named Nanotube Maker. By using numerical analysis, the application enables researchers to simulate different types of nanotubes instantly on smartphones. It has a simple user interface, in which the user can input the required data and Nanotube Maker calculates the shape and properties of the desired nanostructure. The application is available for download on the local Android app store Cafe Bazaar for 200,000 rials (approx. $5). It has been downloaded by nearly 100 times at the time of publishing this report. The researchers have not stated what the commercial uses are for such an application and how it will be used by the general public.
