The Third Independent Iranian Game Makers Festival, one of the most prestigious videogame festivals held in Iran, has invited contestants.

Hamzeh Azad, secretary of the festival, said in a press conference on Tuesday that aside from the main focus on games, the festival’s five main areas include character development, script writing, articles, game reviews and technologies, local tech website ICTPRESS reported.

Contestants can upload their content that will be assessed by judges and technicians. Viewers and judges can add their ratings and comments online.

Workshops and seminars have been planned on the event’s sidelines.

After the top submissions are announced, winning teams will be awarded cash prizes and receive support.

Azad added that 1 billion rials ($2,850) worth of prizes have been earmarked as prizes, about 40% of which are in cash.

Twenty top submissions will enter acceleration programs.

Hassan Jalilvand, an official with the vice presidential office of science and technology, added that the festival will include a special sector on biotechnology.

Enthusiasts may apply by referring to igdf.ir and the festival’s deadline for submission is Oct. 31.

The Independent Iranian Game Makers Festival was first introduced in 2014 to identify and help promote the growth of independent game creation in Iran.

More than 600 games were submitted in last year’s editions.
