Iran's National RoboCup Committee Chairman Morteza Musakhani has been selected as the country’s representative in the executive committee of Asia-Pacific RoboCup competitions, according to a new report from Tehran. “Holding the 11th edition of RoboCup IranOpen competitions in Tehran allows us to gain valuable awards at the RoboCup world championships," Musakhani was quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency. "Promoting the quality and quantity of robotic technology in Iran and the enthusiastic reception by Iranian students have been among the reasons that led to the selection of our country as a member of the executive committee.” Musakhani further said Russia, Japan and Australia are other members of the committee. “We have proposed to host the 2019 Asia RoboCup [in Iran] and given our successful record in holding several editions of international IranOpen competitions, we are expecting the approval of our proposal," he said. Iranian RoboCup teams are currently competing for the world championship title in the RoboCup 2016 in Leipzig, Germany. The competitions kicked off on June 30 and will wrap up on Sunday.
