About 80% of Iranian households now have access to fast broadband Internet, with a growing share getting access to speeds of 20 megabit per second, the vice president for communications infrastructure said.
Mohammad Ali Arianian added that as part of the policies of the incumbent administration and Resistance Economy as laid out by the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the country is upgrading infrastructure to reduce oil dependency and boost economic growth by focusing on domestic production and exports.
He added that the development of a new upgraded network will also help the government instill its new pro-online policies and agenda, according to ICTNA.
The official stressed that for Resistance Economy to have an impact, the upgrading of technology networks is necessary for human resources development.
“The development of fiber optic networks is underway across the country,” he said.
Arianian noted that for Iran to become a global leader in communications, investing in fiber optics and building a “Communications Campus” in Tehran, Hamedan and Isfahan are key to this technology vision.
