8th IST Planned for Autumn

The Eighth International Symposium on Telecommunications (IST 2016) has been scheduled for September 27-29.
Iranian and foreign professors and researchers are expected to attend the event that will be held at Iran's Telecoms and Information Technology Research Center, which is affiliated to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology—the main organizer of the event.
"The main goal of the event is to help exchange scientific knowledge and make practical use of it in Iran," Mahmoud Kamarei, secretary of the scientific committee of IST 2016, said in a press conference held on Saturday, ICT Press reported.
IST 2016 is the eighth in a series of biannual events organized by ICT Research Institute and designed to provide an opportunity for academicians and specialists in the international telecom community to meet peers in Iran.
The main objectives are to promote exchanges on the latest developments in emerging technologies and advances in standards, services and applications in information and communication systems.
The symposium will feature keynote lectures by world-renowned speakers, panels, special sessions and tutorials.
Kamarei said enthusiasts have 10 more days to submit papers. The papers will be assessed by two committees, a foreign and a local one. The international committee comprises 55 members from 17 countries.
A team of five jurors will assess each paper; for the submission to be accepted, at least three jurors must vote in favor of it.
Papers that are ultimately selected will be indexed and archived on the event's website.
The papers and speeches will focus on 24 subjects, including wireless telecoms and networks, system security, cloud networks and social media networks.
A number of specialized workshops have also been scheduled before the symposium and will be run by Iranian and foreign specialists.
As a side event, an exhibition will be held to display the latest advances and achievements in the realm of telecoms industry.
