Tehran will be hosting the Fifth International Innovation and Technology Exhibition (INOTEX 2016) this May.
The latest technological achievements of 15 countries are to be presented at the event scheduled for May 22-25 at Tehran's International Fairground, Mehr News Agency reported.
"With a special focus on technological interaction, the main goal of the exhibition is to establish business ties among firms," said the event director, Mohammad Najafian.
The official added that motives go beyond sales, the main intention is to establish long-term strategic business ties, including joint research and development projects as well as investment and manufacturing ventures in the realm of science and technology. A total of 140 firms will be attending this year's exhibition, over half of which is Iranian.
The main categories to be featured at the exhibition are communications and information technology, mechanical engineering, industrial automation, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment, nanotechnology, new and renewable energies, aerospace and media tech.
Side events include the Second International Conference on Networking and Innovation, which will include discussions on practical solutions that can help accelerate technological advances in Iran.
Also, 10 specialized panels will be held that feature 10 keynote foreign speakers and 20 specialists.
Other notable side-events are a series of workshops and a conference focused on commercializing technologies that will be hosted by an educational workgroup.
