All three major mobile operators in Iran are offering discounts on the eve of the Norouz (Iranian New Year) holidays (March 20-April 2), with some offering entirely free or "100% Discount" SIM cards to attract new clients. The new move, aimed at grabbing mobile subscribers, began in earnest this week with Hamra-e-Avval offering a "Charge Sharing" service where people can gift mobile phone top-up credit, from 50,000 rials and up to 1 million rials. MTN-Irancell, the country's second biggest mobile operator by number of subscribers, has also announced a Norouz offer of 100% discount on certain SIM cards. According to the company, this includes both data-only and traditional mobile SIM cards. Iran's third mobile operator, RighTel, is also highlighting its special offers for consumers by offering a "free gift", which will be activated on the first day of the Iranian New Year. Beleaguered former number two operator, Taliya, has not announced any new offers for their remaining customers.
