Currency and gold dropped in Tehran Sunday after a short rally a day earlier when the government launched the first day of a lockdown program to curb the Covid plague.
Climbing above 260,000 rials a session earlier, the dollar retreated on Sunday in the open market to be traded at 257,000 rials down 1.9%.
Other major currencies also fell. The highest daily loss was reported for the UAE dirham, which declined 2.8%, to reach 70,000 rials. It had reached an all-time high of 82,000 rials in mid-October.
