A new locally developed mobile app has been launched that provides children, and especially those in school, with educational material in Persian on physical, mental and social health.
The application which is named “Safiran-e-Salamat” (health ambassadors) is available for download on Apple’s App Store and local Android market Cafe Bazaar.
Aimed at raising awareness and training children in various aspects of a healthy life, the application has a user-friendly menu and an attractive graphic design and includes multimedia information.
After signing up in the app, kids will have easy access to the educational material, categorized in several sections, including healthy food, personal hygiene, how to prevent disease, promote environment protection, safety training, and dental health, IRNA reported.
Each segment in addition to educational text includes relevant animation clips.
According to Amir Sarkandi, head of the producer team of the app, Safiran-e-Salamat can also be employed by school teachers as educational material.
“It is also equipped with a special testing section, which makes it possible for teachers and parents to assess children’s familiarity with topics.”
The production team spent about a year to design the app and some sections are yet to be completed. The application is available on Android and iOS devices.
Jointly sponsored by the ministries of education, health and the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, Safiran-e-Salamat is the first of its kind in Iran.
There are foreign versions of the app offering education material about health and safety.
Among the international instances, 'Ergobreak 4 Kids', is a free application providing videos for children, describing useful exercises to counteract postural problems that might emerge after prolonged use of computers and tablets.
'My Incredible Body', as the title suggests, is designed to help children understand everything about their body.
Another example is 'DreamyKid', an application that offers meditation and guided visualization, guiding the users towards a happier life through mindfulness.
Regardless of their differences, these apps are aimed at promoting a healthier lifestyle for children.
