Domestic Firm Makes Lightweight, Foldable Electric Wheelchairs

A domestic company has produced an electric wheelchair that can also carry overweight people and disabled people who have to travel long distances

A domestic company has produced a lightweight, foldable electric wheelchair to help the elderly and disabled people.

Easy Mobile wheelchairs could also be used by overweight people and patients, the manager of Mobin Sanaat Electric Wheelchairs Production Company said at the Abadiran Expo.

Saeed Fooladi added that the easy-to-use electric wheelchairs are equipped with better features than their old-fashioned counterparts, the news portal of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology reported.

Noting that old electric wheelchairs used to weigh over 45 kilograms, he said, “Those who take care of patients could not easily carry the older wheelchairs, therefore, we designed frames that were lightweight and foldable, which could be easily accommodated in all types of passenger cars, even those that do not have trunks.”

Fooladi said the tires of this wheelchair are of very high quality and despite being non-inflatable, they repel shocks caused by movement in various directions because of the holes incorporated in their body.

“Fibers used in this wheelchair prevent sweating and can be easily detached and washed. This is an advantage for disabled people who are very active and have to travel long distances,” he said.

According to the manager, the customized version of the electric wheelchairs can also be equipped with a Bluetooth remote control.

In the end, Fooladi praised the Abadiran Expo for showcasing technologies and products that ease mobility for the elderly and disabled people, and brought organizations and companies face-to-face, which create jobs for them and eliminate deprivation in underdeveloped areas.

Abadiran Expo was held from June 13-15 at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla by the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology.

Companies active in the fields of housing, farming, animal husbandry, fisheries, machinery, urban and rural infrastructure development, health, water, energy and environment, as well as cultural, educational and recreational technologies showcased their latest products at the exhibition.
