Domestic Company Helps Set Up Power Booster Stations

A knowledge-based company has produced a power booster station’s equipment at a quarter of the price of foreign counterparts

A knowledge-based company is producing equipment needed by power booster stations at a price lower than foreign counterparts.

“There is little or no chance of development in a country without a dynamic electricity industry,” said Iraj Rafiei, CEO of Paya Ravesh Aria Company, while referring to the high importance of this equipment in Iran’s electricity industry.

“For this reason, and in order to achieve self-sufficiency in this field, in the last decade, the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology launched a large knowledge-based movement in the electrical industry and we also joined this movement,” he was quoted as saying by the news portal of the vice-presidency.

The knowledge-based company supplies various products to Iran’s electricity industry, including those needed for monitoring remote-control terminals and stabilizing pressure-boosting stations in industrial automation and telecommunication systems.

Battery chargers, protection relays and multiplexers are among the company’s products widely used in the electrical industry.

When the electricity is supplied by the power plant to consumers through the distribution system, cabins along the way regulate the pressure. The company produces the equipment needed by these cabins to prevent significant currency outflow needed for imports.

According to the company’s managers, the domestic model also offers after-sale services and warranty.

In the last few years, the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology has organized dozens of supportive events and extended facilities to strengthen the presence of knowledge-based companies in the domestic electricity industry in cooperation with institutions such as Tavanir.

    Remote-Control Terminal Competitive

A domestic knowledge-based company has developed an efficient remote-control terminal that has a price advantage over foreign counterparts.

The remote monitoring and control terminal has a flexible structure that makes it ideal for various industrial centers.

“The company has produced the industrial control equipment using domestic electronic technologies,” Mosayeb Ashrafi, the CEO of Control Pajouhan Part Mehvar Company, was quoted as saying by the news portal of the Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology.

In addition to having eight digital input channels, six analog inputs and five digital outputs, the terminal can have more inputs. It uses a three-phase system to deliver electricity with greater efficiency.

Programmed under standard languages by the company’s specialists, the terminal's dedicated software is a unique feature. Its numerous boards and configurations make it possible to fully adapt the terminal to a variety of applications in small and large stations at an optimal cost. Its software supports multitasking and protocols for upstream communication by default.

The CEO of the knowledge-based company noted that for different types of analog and digital input and output signals, a suitable board can be selected, depending on a project’s requirements.

“In addition to the main processor’s capabilities, a protocol converter board is also envisaged, which helps centralize information and converts protocols for the terminal,” he said.

“The domestic terminal can easily be used as a multi-post information centralizing station in post-automation systems.”

Ashrafi pointed out that the domestic remote-control terminal is priced at one-fifth of foreign counterparts.

The production line can employ 45 technicians, but due to a lack of support for knowledge-based companies, it is currently managed by five specialists.

    Equipment for Power Plants

A domestic knowledge-based company has produced equipment for small power plants at a price lower than foreign counterparts.

“After the imposition of sanctions, we faced problems in supplying parts to power plants, so we started to meet the technological needs of the electricity industry,” said Hossein Ali Behjou, the CEO of Behsaz Sani System Company.

One of the capabilities of this knowledge-based company is the construction of small-scale combined heat and power, as well as gas-fired power plants, which can produce 5-50 MW of electricity.

Referring to electronic components needed in the electricity industry,

Behjou said, “Power plants use electronic cards that are imported from the US General Electric Company, which cost between $10,000 and $15,000.

This is while the knowledge-based company has produced them at a significantly lower price. Prices for different electronic cards, depending on their functionality and models, range from 110 million rials [$377] to 200 million rials [$686].”

Not long ago, power supply in Khuzestan Province was disrupted due to the malfunctioning of electrical insulators. Subsequently, the company’s engineers built the first insulator washing drone in the Middle East which, in addition to having a financial advantage, also had high efficiency.

The turbine tester is another product of this company. At times, old turbines in a power grid cause fluctuations that may damage electrical appliances such as refrigerators. As a result, the government announced that if these fluctuations lead to the breakdown of electrical appliances and inflict losses on citizens, it would pay compensation based on the assessment of experts.

To solve this problem, the knowledge-based company produced a tester at a reasonable price, which can measure the rotation of the generator turbine to identify any potential failure.

Behjou noted that all of the company’s products offer guarantees and after-sale services, and customers could buy products directly from the company.
