The output of Iran's major aluminum producers stood at an aggregate of 20,415 tons during the first Iranian month (March 21-April 20), which indicates a 33% decrease compared to last year's same month, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization reported.
Flagship producer Iran Aluminum Company accounted for 15,297 tons of the total figure, registering a 2% growth year-on-year. It was followed by Hormozal Aluminum Company with 2,625 tons, down 73% YOY, and Almahdi Aluminum Company with 2,493 tons, down 58% YOY.
Iran Alumina Company produced 18,259 tons of alumina powder during the month, down 11% YOY.
Iran has a current aluminum nameplate capacity of 457,000 tons per year, of which about 437,000 tons are operational, Metal Bulletin reported.
The country is planning to increase annual production to 1.5 million tons by 2025.
