New guidelines are being drafted for startups in the field of tourism by Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization.
It defines a transparent legal framework for activities of online firms and startups active in the field, local news website Peivast reported.
Vali Teymouri, a deputy with ICHHTO says that the measure will help curb bureaucracy for startups and create a legal framework within which such firms can expand operations.
“The guideline, being drafted by Iran Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, should be ratified by the Vice Presidential Office for Science and Technology before being communicated to startups," Teymouri said.
“The existing guideline for tour companies, introduced in 2016, is deficient as it ignores the exponential growth of online businesses and startups. The new guideline addresses this issue.”
The present guideline was proposed by ICHHTO in 2016 and was ratified by the Center for E-Commerce Development in the same year. According to the guideline, only tourism firms certified by ICHHTO for setting up offices are allowed to offer online services.
The government of President Hassan Rouhani says supporting and paving the way for fledgling technology and knowledge-based firms and startups is a priority. Thanks to that, startups and e-commerce firms have seen significant development in various fields including the tourism and hospitality industry.
