The National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company has plans to distribute 28 million liters of Euro-4 diesel nationwide on a daily basis by the end of the current fiscal in March, said the managing director Monday.
Mohammad Reza Mousavikhah said Kerman, Yazd, Sistan and Baluchestan, Bushehr, Semnan and Fars will be fully supplied with the quality fuel before the year is out, the Oil Ministry news portal Shana reported.
The official noted that the NIOPDC has ensured stable distribution of Euro-4 diesel to all parts of the country.
“Following negotiations with several refineries, daily output of Euro-4 diesel is expected to reach 40 million liters in near future, which will meet 80% of daily domestic demand,” Mousavikhah added.
Currently, the Bandar Abbas, Tabriz, Arak, Tehran and Lavan refineries produce 26 million liters of Euro-4 diesel per day.
This type of fuel is sold at 330 filling stations outside the cities and towns as well as near roadways and highways connecting metropolises and urban areas, the official said.
Megacities are introducing schemes to improve urban air quality by limiting the number and type of automobiles that can enter downtown areas and special zones. Diesel-powered trucks and trailers are among the worst sources of urban air pollution and are not allowed to operate in cities.
Output of diesel compliant with Euro 5 standards has also increased in some refineries. New hydrogen purification units in Bandar Abbas and Tabriz refineries have helped increase the quality of diesel and daily production by 75%.
These units have reduced the amount of sulfur produced in refineries from 10,000 parts per million to 50 pmm that is within global limits. In some other units, from 10,000 pmm to 10 pmm – complying with Euro-5 standard.
Bandar Abbas Refinery in Hormozgan Province produces 14 million liters of diesel per day that is sold in the port cities of Bandar Abbas and Chabahar in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Bushehr and Kerman.
Daily diesel output in Tabriz Refinery, East Azarbaijan Province, is three million liters sold to East and West Azarbaijan, Ardebil and Kurdistan provinces.
