The third round of Iran-EU high-level seminar on international nuclear cooperation is to be held on Monday in Brussels, Belgium, with top Iranian officials in attendance.
European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Canete and the head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi, are keynote speakers at the two-day conference.
Dominique Ristori, director general for EU energy, is to preside at the event.
Secretary-General of European External Action Service Helga Schmid and Abbas Araqchi, political deputy at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, are set to preside over a parallel meeting as well, IRNA reported.
The seminar, whose first and second rounds were held in 2017 in Brussels and Isfahan respectively, represents growing cooperation between Iran and the European Union following the 2015 implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers.
Among other joint projects with EU in the field of civil nuclear activity was an action document for Iran under the Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation adopted in May 2016, for which the European Commission has made €5 million available.
