Water and electricity consumption in Bahregan Oilfield, in southern Bushehr Province, show 25% and 5% decline in the first half of the current fiscal (began in March) compared to the same period last year, head of the operational zone of the oilfield said Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion of national safety and firefighting day (September 29), Alireza Qanei said, "As a matter of policy we focus on environmental issues and ways to curb energy consumption in the region," Shana, the Oil Ministry's news agency, reported.
Bahregan is leading the way when it comes to compliance with safety and environmental standards and indicators and protecting human resources. “These are among the main goals of the HSE department of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company that works in the region.”
The official went on to say that “Preventing any kind of accident is and should be the priority of all personnel in the oil industry, and we must avoid hazards by maintaining workplace safety.”
He added that $27 million has been allocated to renovate the company's safety infrastructure and fire brigade.
Health, safety and environment refers to a branch within a company that is responsible for the observance and protection of occupational health and safety rules and regulations along with environmental protection.
