Magnet Motor Production Line Launched in Isfahan

A magnet motor production line in Isfahan Province was officially inaugurated on Thursday as part of an agreement signed between the Department of Environment, the Defense Ministry and Isfahan's Governorate on reducing environmental pollutants.

Isa Kalantari, a vice president and director of the DOE, cut the ribbon in the event which was also attended by Isfahan's Governor General Mohsen Mehr Alizadeh and a top-level representative from the Defense Ministry, the public relations at the provincial Department of Environment reported.

According to Kalantari, the project is to gradually replace the fossil-fueled vehicles with magnetic motor-powered ones in three years, in a major step toward better air quality.

"The toxic emissions of gas-fueled motorcycles play a significant role in increasing air pollution," Kalantari said, describing the current project as part of the government's efforts to alleviate pollution in metropolises through adopting concerted environmental action.

"In order to encourage the public to use the new facilities, the government will offer subsidies to customers," the official added. Kalantari also urged Isfahan's municipal bodies to establish magnetic recharge facilities in the province, where the pilot plan will be implemented.

  Models

The production line is to make three models, including permanent magnet motors for motorcycles, bicycles and water air conditioners.

The permanent magnet motors designed for motorcycles are equipped with a powerful dry battery, enabling the vehicle to reach speeds around 72 km/h with 20% lower energy consumption. The motors are eco-friendly with no greenhouse gas emission.

Furthermore, bicycles equipped with the magnet motors will weight only 28 kilograms and will be able to travel at 25 km/h.

Motors specified for water air conditioners are designed to be controlled remotely from the minimum to the maximum predefined speeds. The magnet air conditioners with 80% productivity and the power of 380 watt produce less noise and last longer than the ordinary ones.

Besides their promising features which are in favor of protecting the environment, the permanent magnet motors are applicable to different vehicles, electric domestic appliances, and at a broader level in power plants and industries.

Working at the full capacity, the production line is able to create over 1,600 job opportunities.

  Optional Replacement

Speaking at the opening event, Isfahan's governor general highlighted the huge positive effect of the new magnetic motors on the quality of air.

"We have set the goal to replace at least one million fossil fuel motorcycles with magnetic ones in three years and the work will start in at most three months."

Pointing to the fact that the scheme does not impose any obligation on the current owners of the gas-fueled motorcycles, Mehr Alizadeh noted, "however, we will make extra effort to raise awareness among the public on the benefits of the new products and offer them enough incentives to contribute to implementing the scheme."

Reportedly, there are over 580,000 fossil-fueled motorcycles plying on the roads in Isfahan.
