Motor Oil Export Terminal Launched in Iran's Khuzestan

Iranol Oil Company, a major local motor oil producer, has launched a new export terminal at Imam Khomeini Port in the southern Khuzestan Province.

According to Isa Es'haqi, managing director of Iranol, the terminal comprises eight bunkering units of different sizes with a collective storage capacity of 25,000 tons, Shana reported.

"Three units each with a capacity of 5,000 tons are allocated to heavy products, while four 2,500-ton tanks will be used for base oils and the last tanker will contain water for emergencies," he added.

Base oils are used to manufacture products, including lubricating greases, motor oil and metal processing fluids.

Iranol is one of the major car oil producers in the country, exporting over 200 million liters per year.

Es'haqi added that the mega project has been constructed within two years on a 2.5-hectare area with an investment of 630 billion rials ($4.2 million).

Prior to this, Iranol used rental storage units with a total capacity of 10,000 tons at a cost of over 200 billion rials ($1.33 million).

The terminal is equipped with ultra-modern facilities, which can take delivery of crude oil and oil products from rail tank cars, marine tankers and pipelines.

According to Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, domestic producers export motor oil to 18 foreign destinations, including Pakistan as the main customer, as well as others such as India, Cameroon, Georgia, Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Somalia and Afghanistan.
